Christians have met at All Saints’ Church to worship God for over 740 years, and we continue this tradition today. Services at Buckland reflect both the heritage and the modern face of the Church of England. We have monthly Book of Common Prayer Evensongs and contemporary services at 11am twice a month too. These morning services tend to be more informal than our evening worship, though still distinctively Anglican in style.
8am Holy Communion
Every Sunday in the month – for 30 minutes
This is a said service using traditional language. The atmosphere during the time of worship is quiet and reflective, but a small and friendly community of people gather around afterwards to greet newcomers and exchange news.
11am Family Service
Every first, second, third and fifth Sunday of the month – for 50 minutes
It’s a Communion service using contemporary language. The organ accompanies our hymn singing, we pray together and there is sermon which develops, explores and challenges the Bible readings set for the day. Adults and children of all ages take part in the informal Communion when we share bread and wine and grapes. Towards the end, Young Saints explain what they have been learning and we finish with refreshments in church.
10am Benefice Service every forth Sunday
This takes place on a rotation basis at one of the churches in the Benefice. The Benefice Service is a Communion Service that is family friendly. This is the only service in the Benefice of the forth Sunday
6pm Choral Evensong
Every Fifth Sunday of the month – for 50 minutes
This is a Book of Common Prayer service with traditional language. It is led by the choir and includes hymns, readings, an anthem and a sermon.
REGULAR MIDWEEK SERVICES
10am Holy Communion
Every Wednesday – for 30 minutes
This is simple said service using contemporary language where we meet gathered round the table. We pray and listen to two bible readings and share bread and wine more informally than on Sundays. We enjoy meeting new people and catching up with each other over coffee & cake at the end.
At All Saints’ Buckland we also have special services to celebrate the festivals of the year like Harvest, Christmas and Mothering Sunday. Often these are at a different time, so please check the website.
Whether you are a life-long Christian, or someone looking to explore the beginnings of a faith in God, you will always be most welcome at any of our services.
